We love taking on creative projects! Below are some of our most recent schemes, including our production of 'A Cottage on Dartmoor' with live score from Joss Peach, and our dance cinema production of Jacob Krupnick's 'Girl Walk// All Day', both of which are available for touring. If you are interested in talking to us about a project, do not hesitate to get in touch.

The Tide Mills Project

Seaford Remembers WW1

Friday 9 - Sunday 11 November 2018

Filmspot worked with The Crypt Gallery, Seaford Museum and Seaford Library to commemorate WWI in a special event throughout Remembrance Weekend, 9 - 11 November. We created animated poppy projections in the windows of the Crypt Gallery, Seaford Library and David Jordan Estate Agents, which were displayed in the evenings throughout the weekend. In the Crypt Gallery windows, we also projected photographs of local, and locally stationed, troops from WW1 and the Roll of Honour. On Saturday 10 November, we created an immersive projected installation in the Crypt Gallery's Undercroft, to provide a space for thoughtful remembrance.

The Rights of Man and Woman

Animated projections for LewesLight2018

We were delighted to participate in LewesLight 2018 (Friday 12 - Sunday 14 October).

In our installation 'The Rights of Man and Woman', we reflected the history of debate at the White Hart Hotel, Lewes, and also explored the friendship between Thomas Paine (former Lewes resident) and Mary Wollstonecraft.

During the LewesLight festival, we projected our specially created hand-drawn animation out of the windows of the White Hart's 'Sheriff Room'. This is the room in which Thomas Paine took part in debates as a member of its famous 'Headstrong Club'.

The Wilderness Project

A year in the life of Seaford Allotments!

We are creating a film portrait of Seaford allotments, and its Wilderness Project - an initiative which includes clearing a section of the allotments which had been left to grow wild, replanting with a wild flower meadow, planting hedges, a micro-orchard and dye garden.

Silent Cinema: Cottage on Dartmoor

Production of Anthony Asquith's 'A Cottage on Dartmoor' with live score from Joss Peach

We approached Brighton-based pianist par-excellence to restore Anthony Asquith's gripping thriller 'A Cottage on Dartmoor' at the beginning of 2015. Joss has composed a fantastic soundtrack, which pulls you right into the action of this simple but multi-layered thriller. We have staged three performances of 'A Cottage on Dartmoor' in Brighton, and are now looking for interested venues outside of the city to tour the event. Get in contact for further information.

'The Old Tales of Kitezh Grad' Sing Russian! with Opera Coast

Animated 'stage sets' to accompany fairytale-themed extracts from Russian operas

In summer 2016 Opera Coast approached us to create animated projections to accompany two concerts of arias and pieces from Russian operas – one concert in Brighton and one in London. Rachel Cunningham created drawings of settings of each aria, which were digitised and placed in a 3d space, to create a digital 'paper theatre', which were then animated and edited by Rob Cunningham.

Dance Cinema: Girl Walk// All Day

A special active cinema dance experience!

In 2016, we premiered a special production of Jacob Krupnick's 'Girl Walk// All Day' at Alive Gym in Brighton. Choreographer Kit C. Hennesey created a promenade dance performance, which really got the audience moving and brought the action down from the screen! Do contact us if you are interested in our bringing this interactive performance to your venue.
